Start with the part you want to hear
Sometimes the useful thing is not another reminder to read more. It is hearing the word you have been hesitating over, without starting the whole passage again.
In Hablobi's Garden, you can listen to a selected word or a short phrase before reciting it yourself. You can also reveal Roman transliteration beneath the Arabic. These are practice aids inside the recitation screen, not a separate course or a promise of perfect pronunciation.
The three gestures, without the guesswork
- To hear a word: press and hold that word in the Garden's Arabic line, then release it. The selected word plays back.
- To hear a phrase: hold a word, drag across the nearby words you want to include, then release. The selection becomes a short listening passage.
- To see Roman transliteration: tap the verse. Tap again to hide it. A quick tap and a press-and-hold do different things.
Let the audio finish before trying the passage yourself. If you selected more than you wanted, try again with a smaller selection. You do not have to turn every sentence into individual words. Use the help where you need it, then return to the line.
Try one small practice session
- Open Grow and choose an available surah you are already working on. If you are following lessons, use a passage appropriate to those lessons.
- Listen to the current ayah using its play control. Find the part you want to revisit.
- Hold the unfamiliar word, or select a short phrase. Listen, pause, and try it yourself at a comfortable pace.
- When you are ready, use the microphone control and recite the displayed passage. The garden responds to accepted recitation progress.
Listening and reciting are different actions. Playing a recording helps you rehearse; it is your own recitation that grows the garden. Flowers are a visible companion to practice, not a certificate that every sound or tajweed rule is correct.
What transliteration can and cannot do
Roman transliteration represents Arabic words with Latin letters. Translation explains meaning in another language. They are different tools, and seeing one does not replace learning the other.
Use transliteration as a reference alongside the Arabic and reciter audio, not as a pronunciation verdict. If you are unsure about a sound, ask a qualified Quran teacher to hear you. Recognition accepting a passage is not a substitute for that feedback. Hablobi is a practice companion, not a replacement for foundational Arabic reading or tajweed instruction.
If the garden does not move forward
First check that you have started the microphone, rather than only playing the reciter audio. Check Hablobi's microphone permission in your iPhone settings and try somewhere with less background sound.
Follow the displayed passage at a natural pace. A stalled line is not enough to diagnose a pronunciation error. If the same passage repeatedly fails, contact support with the surah, ayah, app version and what happened. You do not need to send a voice recording to explain the problem.

Before you begin.
Do I tap or hold to hear a word?
Press and hold the word, then release. Drag while holding to select a phrase. A quick tap on the verse toggles Roman transliteration instead.
Does listening to the recording grow the garden?
No. Playback is for listening and rehearsal. The Garden grows from your own accepted recitation.
Will Hablobi teach me tajweed?
These controls help you listen and practice. They do not replace a qualified teacher, and recognition accepting a passage does not certify correct tajweed.
Do I need a subscription to start?
